Healthy Grazing Country Indicators Book

A book has been developed by NQ Dry Tropics and CSIRO to help landholders understand the significance of native plants and animals they find on their properties.

Healthy Grazing Country Indicators: Native Plants and Animals was developed in consultation with graziers and provides them and other landholders with clear information on what story plants and animals might tell them about their land.
It helps show the clear benefits that animals such as reptiles, woodland birds and insect-eating bats have on the land.
The book describes the benefits that native plants or animals bring to a property and the links they provide in maintaining a sustainable grazing enterprise that endures seasons. It also provides information on management practices that are more likely to encourage particular species on to the property, but is not full of hard and fast rules.
For a copy of the book phone NQ Dry Tropics at 07 4724 3544or visit the Publications section of their website.
