Knowledge and Information Network
The Qld NRM Knowledge and Information Network Project is managed by the Qld Regional NRM Groups Collective (RGC) and has four part time knowledge coordinator positions. These positions work across the state with regional natural resource management bodies to capture existing information and knowledge management processes being used by regional NRM bodies, assist with information dissemination and will develop an agreed state framework for the future management of regional NRM knowledge in Qld in 2010.
The objectives of the Knowledge and Information Network:
- Clearly identify information and knowledge needs of Qld regional NRM body staff and partnering stakeholders.
- Identify and collate where the information and knowledge resides within Qld regional NRM bodies (including the people, business practices and systems available).
- Identify the enablers and blockers of information and knowledge use and review systems which may be able to better overcome these issues.
- Develop an agreed State NRM Knowledge Framework which articulates how regional NRM knowledge should be managed across Qld.
- Provide active information dissemination between regional NRM bodies and relevant stakeholders.
The Network “Regional Knowledge Coordinators” housed within regional bodies will work with surrounding regional NRM bodies. One of the four knowledge coordinators is a part time state wide role (based in DERM) who will provide state-wide coordination and support to southern regional NRM bodies. The coordinators will take on a geographic area but may also take on a NRM theme to be able to point people in the right direction of certain information needs and identify where the information and knowledge gaps exist for these areas.
The Knowledge Coordinators include:
