The Mackay Whitsunday Natural Resource Management Group contributes to the management of the regions natural resources, including the Great Barrier Reef, to ensure the management, protection and sustainable engagement of these resources.
The Mackay Whitsunday Natural Resource Management group raises the profile of issues surrounding the natural environment of the region, which have an impact on the health of this regions natural assets. We build strategic partnerships through collaborative projects which manage these issues within the framework of a regional plan.
We encourage and support the delivery of solutions to sustain profitability in Agriculture by supporting land managers efforts in undertaking actions of environmental best practice across the region.
Our projects protect and conserve the biodiversity and coastal environments of this beautiful part of Australia. Project partners who share these goals include community, government, industry, Traditional Owner and environment groups.

NQ Dry Tropics is a community based, not-for-profit company. We aim to facilitate the improvement of land and water management practices.


South West NRM Ltd was established to support practical action by landholders, community, Landcare groups, Traditional Owners, local government and Industry groups at a regional scale on one hand; and manage NRM investment from Australian and State governments on the other. The key principle behind the regionalisation of natural resource management is that decisions should be made by people close to the source and the context of the issues so to ensure environmental sustainability occurs in an economically, socially and culturally appropriate manner.

TSRA’s Goals

Southern Gulf Catchments is a community-based organisation tasked with strategic and sustainable natural resource management (NRM) planning and implementation in the southern Gulf of Carpentaria region of Queensland. This area covers 195,000 square kilometres and comprises the catchments of the Flinders-Cloncurry, Leichhardt and Gregory-Nicholson Rivers, Settlement Creek and Morning Inlet, plus the Wellesley Islands group. Seven directors from a cross-section of sectors represent stakeholders on the Board of Southern Gulf. With funds sourced from the Commonwealth Government's Natural Heritage Trust and State Government in-kind support Southern Gulf Catchments coordinates NRM activities throughout the region, including:Weed Control, On-ground conservation projects, Riparian fencing & Pasture monitoring. Southern Gulf aims to: Protect and restore biodiversity values, Arrest land degradation, Improve water quality through decreased sedimentation, Facilitate coastal and marine management. SGC is also the Commonwealth and State accredited body preparing an integrated natural resource management plan and investment strategy for the region.

We are a community-based business that sources and coordinates investment in activities that help South East Queensland to a sustainable future and restores natural resources for the benefit of future generations.
We act as an intermediary between all levels of government, community and industry in order to make the connections, secure financial support, coordinate activities, provide technical and scientific advice and administrative support to deliver measurable, long-term outcomes for our natural resources.
This generation holds in trust, for the next and future generations, the things we need to sustain us and the environment in which we live, work and enjoy recreationally.


The Queensland Murray-Darling Committee, or QMDC, is a natural resource management (NRM) organisation that supports communities in our designated region to sustainably manage their natural resources.
QMDC provides mapping and planning support, and technical advice to private and public land managers. QMDC does this in order to help communities to put catchment-wide improvements to NRM into practice. Specific natural resources targeted by QMDC include:
QMDC also offers education and training programs to help increase the knowledge of the communities we work with to manage their natural resources sustainably.
In 2004, after significant consultation with these communities, QMDC developed its Regional Natural Resource Management (NRM) Plan. This Plan sets out the priorities, targets and milestones for NRM in the region.

The Northern Gulf natural resource region encompasses the catchments of the Mitchell, Norman, Gilbert and Staaten River systems in far north and central north Queensland.
It is a large, remote area covering approximately 194,000km with an estimated population density of 1 person per 20 square kilometres. The major population centres are Georgetown, Croydon, Forsayth, Einasleigh, Mt Surprise, Dimbulah, Burketown, Normanton, Karumba, Kowanyama, Chillagoe, Mount Molloy, Mount Carbine and Irvinebank.
The Northern Gulf Resource Management Group Ltd (NGRMG) is a not-for-profit community based company that plans and advises on issues and best practice for natural resources in the Northern Gulf region by setting regional priorities and accessing funds for specified on-ground outcomes.
The Group’s target is an inclusive, proactive, integrated and cooperative approach to resource management using the framework developed in the strategic plan, and the resources identified in the regional investment plan.
