
NatureAssist is for rural Queensland landholders to help sustainably manage their land, conditional upon them entering into a nature refuge agreement. NatureAssist is a competitive market-based incentive scheme that gives landholders throughout rural Queensland the opportunity to tender for financial assistance to carry out on-ground management actions that will maintain or enhance their property’s conservation values. Expressions of interest must be submitted by 16 March 2009 (5pm AEST). Landholders can express their interest by completing a simple one-page expression of interest form available at www.epa.qld.gov.au/naturerefuges or by calling the EPA Customer Service Centre on 1300 130 372.
In a move that is perhaps appropriate for a region with mining activity, the wealth of knowledge of local retired professionals will be 'mined' as part of a novel project, called "Grey Power: Networking community wisdom in environmental management".

The Loudoun Weir Fishway will be the first fishway in Australia to be completed with financial support from corporate investment. Dalby’s local Civil Construction firm Ostwald Bros have led this challenge assisted by GHD Toowoomba and Arrow Energy to ensure the fishway on Loudoun Weir would become operational in time for the next big rain.

Condamine Alliance's region of operation is the Condamine River catchment, the north-eastern headwaters of the Murray-Darling River system. The catchment area of 2.75 million hectares is home to 175,000 people (including 3600 farmers), and it is rapidly developing as the nation’s energy powerhouse with the development of coal mining and coal-seam gas industries.
